Description
6 metalmark clearwing Riodinidae family Chlorinea genus swordtail dark blue butterflies with orange heart shapes on their hind wings are shown with a single center placed bicolor orange and rust daylily on a blue background with a repeating mosaic shadow design in this neo-tropical broad leaf forest butterfly nature mandala. The hind wing heart design is also repeated in a circle in the middle of this nature image. Many swordtail butterflies are native to Peru and Bolivia and other parts of South America. Amazing and unique, transparent glass like wings on insects are an evolutionary advantage providing camouflage and protection for clearwing butterflies at rest and in flight from potential predators. Take an eco-trip to my website phelpsmandala.com for over 850 colorful and creative nature images and multiple blog posts centering on my art process and influences. You will find this unique nature design on coffee mugs, tote bags and other items in my shop. Thank you for choosing my art for your home and your family.
