For over 3000 years, since the days of the Mayans and Aztecs, inhabitants of Latin American countries have gathered together annually to honor loved ones on the celebratory “Day of the Dead” or Dia de los Muertos. This public holiday is a fervent and feasting fiesta lasting 3 days from October 31 to November 2. Dia de los Muertos embraces the circle of life acknowledging that life and death are not to be feared and that each are in complete harmony, bound to the processes of nature. Altars or ‘ofrendas’ are lovingly built in homes or public places. I hope you will visit and tell others about phelpsmandala.com for many more nature inspired images and nature mandalas.
