The male peafowl Indian peacock, Pavo cristatus, has an array of covert tail feathers with yellow and blue eyespots or ocelli that can be as long as 89 inches and is beautifully displayed as an iridescent train feather upright fan when he is courting a female peafowl known as a peahen. This nature mandala is an adaptation of one I previously created 7 years ago which is in my book: Nature Mandalas: Wonders of the Earth, Wind, and Sea, (Schiffer Publishing 2016). Multiple rings of blue, yellow, and aqua feather eyespots, so identifiable with peacocks, are shown surrounding the blue upper body and head of a male peacock. Artistic license resulted in this elaborate display of iridescent color, texture, and mosaic design to bring interest to this flamboyant beautiful iconic bird. I hope you will like it!
