A variety of colorful koi are displayed: golden yellow or “Ogon,” silver bodied koi “Tancho Sanke” with a design of a black pattern made with a repeating Japanese symbol for ‘fish’ on their backs and a red circle on their foreheads, red or “Hi” koi with light blue tail, dorsal, and pectoral fins, along with a variety of fancy finned varieties. Koi are members of the family Cyprinidae that includes carp, goldfish, shiners, and chubs.
