I created this head portrait of a great horned owl, bubo virginianus, from a full length traditional pen and ink illustration done a few years ago and recently colorized a portion of this illustration as a head study allowing me to bring out the distinct coloration around the eyes and chest of this extraordinary raptor making it one of the most fascinating birds of the world. A brown coffee stain background was added for atmosphere and visual interest. I hope you will like this bird study.
