Description
4 red and white striped furry bodied cecropia silkmoths, Hyalophora cecropia, with muted brown patterned wings that have dot beaded brown, yellow and red lines and yellow crescent shaped eyespots on their broad muted gray brown wings and feathery brown antennae are shown a bed of 8 pink cherry blossoms, bunches of ripe red cherry fruits, and green pointed leaves on a white background in this saturnid silkmoth nature mandala. Saturnid moths have become so uncommon in the wild that to see one is breathtaking. Their furry, robust, and plump bodies royally float through the air on oversized wings as if they are draped in flowing velvet tapestry robes. To hold one in your hand or to have one meander up your arm with a tickle is divine! There are less than one hundred species of saturnid moths existing in North America with a worldwide distribution of over 2,200. Visit my website phelpsmandala.com for more beautiful moths, butterflies and other wonders of nature!
